What will I do on the day?

This interactive session blends live and filmed actor scenarios, discussion, practical activities, legislative explanation and relevant case studies. Don’t worry – there is no role play! Using theatre to show the impact of assumptions, behaviours and communication, delegates will observe and discuss, drawing conclusions on how to move forwards on both an individual and organisational level.

inclusion, equality and diversity

embedding the learning.

We deliver this course using observational, theatre-based learning. Our actors perform a number of scenarios based on real-life case studies, and we use facilitated discussion to understand the impact and give the legislation context. This exploratory approach supports inductive learning of what is traditionally a more deductive topic. Whilst the legislative elements of the session require clarity, our interactive approach ensures learning which is relatable to all delegates and can be applied immediately.

We use our unique EdRespect© Game at the end of the session, putting delegates into teams to check their understanding of what’s been covered and stretch them with some further case studies, questions and examples, creating a high energy, memorable end to the session.

Some faq's about Inclusion Equality & Diversity Training.

0.1What is Theatre based learning?

Theatre Based Learning is the technique we use to bring learning to life by using our actors to perform scenarios, based on real case studies.

Theatre Based Learning can be either observational (where learners watch scenes and discuss) OR participative (where we use techniques like real-play and practice, forum where learners interact with the actors and direct them or hot-seating where learners give feedback to individual characters and make suggestions). This course uses our actors to both demonstrate presentation skills and often made mistakes and techniques with the ability for all learners to present and receive feedback

0.2What are the benefits of Equality and Diversity training?
An open and inclusive workplace is a benefit to any organisation, creating an increase in morale, improved staff retention and a good company reputation. For educational organisations, there is the additional need to ensure the operation of an environment where discrimination is not tolerated and students are supported to develop their understanding and appreciation of diversity. Inclusion, equality and diversity training is a compliance need for all education professionals, but in too many cases it becomes a box-ticking exercise. Our inclusion, equality and diversity training supports your organisation to move beyond compliance and to create an actively anti-discrimination learning culture.
0.3Why is inclusion, equality and diversity training important?
Both employers and employees have legal obligations under this legislation - getting it wrong can lead to serious consequences for both employee and employer.
